Freshman Homecoming Hair and Makeup

I had the privilege last week to get this gorgeous young lady all dolled up for her freshman homecoming at Science Hill High School. Her mother requested that since she doesn't normally wear any makeup, that her look be very natural and age appropriate, and I'm so glad she did. This girl is beaming with natural beauty, so there wasn't much work for me! She also wanted to keep her hair down and simple with loose waves. Here's a few quick pics of how everything turned out.

Makeup Artist Spotlight

Hi, friends! I'm a little behind at keeping this website up to date, so for the most current info and pictures, etc. make sure you click the "Connect" tab above and follow me on Facebook and Instagram.

Ok, that being said, I have some super exciting news! I recently did an interview with Meisha from The Modern Heart which she has spotlighted on her blog. Click here to check it out! If you are local, you have got to check this lady out. She is an amazing photographer, and I have been lucky enough to work with her on several weddings over the past few years. She is also a wealth of information about the local wedding industry. She occasionally spotlights vendors, venues, and wedding services on her blog which would be so valuable to those of you starting to plan your upcoming weddings.

I'm so grateful to be named one of the "Best Makeup Artists in East Tennessee." Coming from a professional like Meisha, I take it as an incredible compliment. Please click the image below to read the full article. You might even get to know me a little better by this interview!

I just want to say thank you again to The Modern Heart. I look forward to working with you again in the future!

Until next time...

Mother-of-the-Bride

My good friend Meisha from themodernheart.com recently sent me a snap she took at a recent wedding and it just stunned me. Something about this particular photo just gave me such a sense of calm. Weddings are usually quite the hustling and bustling kind of events. There is a lot going on, lots  of people managing lots of details to make the very special day go off perfectly.

The moment captured here is the sweet mother-of-the-bride who took the moment to sit still, be pampered, forget the worries and checklists of making her beautiful daughter's wedding day
absolutely perfect, and just be. Just enjoy.

Truthfully, there were photographers and videographers and hairdressers and bridesmaids and lots of extra people running around in the background, but what you get in the picture is somehow so calm, so serene. It just struck me as beautiful.

I'm not usually the one in front of the camera, and usually when there is a camera pointed at me I feel super uncomfortable and nervous. But here I was lost in the process and I had no idea the photo was even being taken. Concentrating on the artistry. I just absolutely love it. Not because I'm in it, but because somehow the photo captures exactly what I see. Beauty and joy.

Mothers-of-the-bride/groom : Don't forget about yourself on your child's big day. It's your day, too. Let the stresses of wedding busyness work themselves out and let yourself enjoy this big event in your life. Enjoy getting dolled up. Enjoy eating and dancing and celebrating. It took a lot of love and dedication to get your child to this day. Celebrate that! Celebrate love!

Just a few thoughts...I just love weddings! 😍

Dugger Wedding

I had the privilege to doll up the mother-of-the-bride and the two bridesmaids for a gorgeous outdoor wedding at Storybrook Farms in Jonesborough, TN. I didn't stay to get a photo of them in their dresses, but I know they were all absolutlely lovely!

{The mother-of-the-bride is also a local wedding photographer and her work is stunning! Check her out @ theamaddoxphotography.com!}

Senior Prom - Olivia

For her senior prom, Olivia wanted a dramatic golden smokey eye with big lashes, so that's what we did! Kept everything else light and neutral so all the focus would be on her pretty eyes!

Burwell Wedding - Chapel Hill, TN

My best friend got married! I was a bridesmaid, but I also did hair and makeup. I did hair for 4 of the bridesmaids and makeup for 3. It was an absolutely beautiful wedding and I was so glad to be a part of it!

Homecoming - Eden

I had the privilege to do makeup and hair for this lovely girl for her homecoming. This was the second time I've worked with this young lady, and she is just as sweet as she is drop dead gorgeous. I was so thrilled she wanted a look that was simple and age-appropriate. We went with soft colors and kept all the drama on the lashes! We also kept her hair in soft curls as she wanted something more casual.
